This event is part of the grand finale to the year-long Abbey 1000 celebrations marking 1,000 years since the founding of the Abbey of St Edmund in Bury St Edmunds.
Sound and light projections by the award-winning designers, who have previously worked on landmark buildings including the Blackpool Tower and York Minster, will told the story of St Edmund and the founding of the Abbey. The projections included many carefully researched historical images encompassing illuminated manuscripts from the Abbey such as the Bury Bible and Lydgate’s Life of St Edmund, combined with special lighting effects, music and voices. The spectacular is accompanied by an enchanting themed light trail through the Abbey Gardens, created by students from West Suffolk College.
Projection onto the historical Millennium Tower.
The Tower dominates the skyline of Bury St Edmunds. It can be seen from far and wide, just as the Abbey Tower would have been seen by visitors and pilgrims in medieval times.
Sound and light projections were created by The Projection Studio. My role was to create the mapping content design for several concept scenes, like sound sync Finale amongst others
