Konak, The Sun Temple, is considered one of the seven wonders of India.
Based in Orissa, India, and built on 1255, Konark is a true icon of India’s cultural and historical heritage. The Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984, and has also featured on various list of Seven Wonders of India.
The complex, is in the shape of a gigantic chariot pulled by a set of seven horses, having elaborately carved stone wheels, pillars and walls.
Its carvings encapsulate the work of more than 1200 artisans from the time. The wheels of the temple are sundials which can be used to calculate time accurately to a minute.
Here the language of stone surpasses the language of human.

Permanent video content mapping show for this historical site.
The Show celebrates the history, folklore, and symbolic architecture of the Sun Temple, to amaze and illustrate visitors. Projected daily at dawn, the Show lasts 37 min; the audience is sitting at a certain distance, the projection is set onto main facades of both Temples.
Sound, light and projection work in sync to produce a unique visual experience.
We were commissioned to produce content for the sync mapping for TPS team. There were a lot of challenges; the complexity in details of the building were relevant and had to be “essentialized”. In very limited time. During creation of concepts we wanted to involve the architecture itself, instead of a flat screen approach.
Some achievements that we think contributed to bring value to this Projection Studio's client project: The development of Temples 3d structures, that brought back beauty lost by time; to be displayed/overlaped onto real, like a make up skin, all just out of a basic laserscan.
The creation of key areas of the show, like Intro and Finalle; we explored the concept of sound reactive visual progressions to glow in sync with sound. The design of several historical scenes, which seamlessly encapsulated into a transitioning storyline, through intricate 3d mapping techniques. The final Composites Design for our contribution scenes,  and the Render stage, were also conceived and developed at our end.
